Ruins of the Bismarckhöhe Sanatorium

Highlight • Historical Site

Sanatorium Bismarckhöhe / Sanatorium Finkenwalde / Kinderheim Bismarckhöhe from Hökendorf (now Bukowe-Klęskowo) on the extension of Mączna Street (German Mühlenstraße). In 1900, the medical doctor Lindtner bought land from the municipality of Hökendorf with the intention of opening a clinic-sanatorium. Carl Kelm supervised the design and construction of the Sanatorium Finkenwalde complex, and in 1902 the complex was opened. It consisted of a winter and summer pavilion connected with each other by a corridor leading to a large, glass dining room. It also had electricity, and the specialists employed there were among the most respected in their profession. From 1910 the sanatorium was called "Bismarckhöhe". During World War I (1914-1918) it was closed, but after its end, patients returned to it for four years. In 1923-29, the building, which was converted into a municipal orphanage, operated under the name "Kinderheim Bismarckhöhe". In 1926 the facades of the buildings were rebuilt, the facades were plastered, all ornaments and embellishments disappeared. In 1929, an old people's home was built there and the concrete wheelchair driveway built in 1930 has been preserved to this day. In 1937, a motorway was built in the immediate vicinity of the complex. The last trace of "Bismarckhöhe" is the address book from 1943. Unfortunately, the only information is that the owner was the city of Stettin at the time.
The buildings of the "Bismarckhöhe" survived the hostilities of March 1945, but at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s they were demolished by the inhabitants. The entrance gate posts (one is still standing), the already mentioned driveway for carriages and fragments of the building's foundations have remained to this day.

Czwójdziński Gate

Highlight • Trail

The Czwójdziński Gate is a short, picturesque 300-meter section of Rudzianka, located in the area of the Szczecin Landscape Park "Puszcza Bukowa". The Rudzianki stream flowing northward, having encountered the hill, turns sharply east to avoid the obstacle, then returns to its former direction. The Valley Road runs along the bottom of the valley. On the eastern edge, there is a small marshy pool of the Rudzianka-Słupienica tributary, a bridge and a junction of marked tourist routes.
Bolesław Czwójdziński (born May 27, 1901 in Gostyń, died July 17, 1972 in Szczecin) - a pioneer of sightseeing and tourism in Western Pomerania.
