St. Michael the Archangel Church in Warsaw

The Grodzisk Market Settlement was known already in the 10th century, it was the property of princes and then royalty. The church was probably built in 1534 by Queen Bona and a wealthy nobleman who had a hermitage in this place, where he did penance for his lavish lifestyle. Church of St. Michael the Archangel is the oldest preserved wooden church in the capital. Later, it was renovated many times, but retained its original architectural shape. It has a single nave with a gable roof covered with shingles and a wooden floor. In 1602, King Sigismund III Vasa gave the surrounding lands to the Bernardines and the church remained under their management for about 250 years. After the dissolution of the Bernardine Order in 1864, the temple came under the management of the parish of Our Lady of Loreto in Praga.

Fr. Primate Stefan Wyszyński, by decree of September 28, 1958, established the local church as a branch of the parish of St. Isidore in Marki and granted him the right to keep record books. On July 1, 1975, the parish was established. Saint Michael the Archangel in Grodzisk.
