Grabowa River bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Beautiful views here from the bridge over the Grabowa River. This river looks like a canal here—extraordinarily green on both sides. The Grabowa flows from Lake Wockmin (near Sława), then flows into the Wieprza River, and then into the Baltic Sea.

Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bukowo Morskie - a parish of the Polish Catholic Church in Poland, located in the Diocese of Wrocław, in the Pomeranian-Greater Poland deanery. Masses are held on Wednesday and Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Sundays and holidays at 9:00 and 11:00.

The parish temple is the historic, 14th-century church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Polish Catholic parish in Buków Morskie was erected on April 19, 1964 by Bishop Julian Pękala, then head of the Polish Catholic Church. The National Church was known to the townspeople because of the parish operating in neighboring Darłowo a few years earlier, headed by Fr. Joseph Nowak. From 1969, the pastor of the parish was very energetic Fr. Stefan Mościpan, on his initiative, a monument was erected next to the church in honor of the Heroes of the Pomeranian Wall. In the following years, as a result of frequent changes of priests, the parish deteriorated, only the arrival of Fr. Dominika Gzieło put the community back on its feet. Thanks to the efforts of the parish priest, many thorough renovations have been made in recent years, min. church roof, which on November 11, 2006 was solemnly blessed by Fr. info. Stanisław Bose - administrator of the Wrocław diocese.

The Church of Our Lady the Queen of Poland is the oldest and most valuable monument in the village of Iwięcino. The church in Iwięcin was built at the end of the 14th century on the initiative of the Cistercians from the monastery in Buków Morskie. Originally, the building had 4 towers, but when in 1732 lightning destroyed two of them, only one was rebuilt. It was tilted west to protect it against frequent, strong westerly winds. The tower and nave of the church were covered with oak shingles.
In 1535, as a result of the Reformation, the church was taken over by Protestants. By 1945, 15 pastors worked in Iwięcin. Of these, pastor Mevius held his office for the longest time, 50 years. The old cemetery, surrounded by a stone rampart, had three entrance gates. Each of them belonged to one of three subordinate villages - they were: Iwięcino, Wierciszewo and Bielkowo. It was strictly observed that the residents only use the gate that belongs to them. The gates of Wierciszew and Belkow were much wider because the pastor celebrated funeral ceremonies with them. In Iwięcin, they took place in the homes of the deceased. Each of the gates was decorated with carved inscriptions:

Belkow's gate: "Tu walrus, eris porta coeli" (Latin: Oh, death - you will become the gate to heaven),
the gate for Wierciszew: "Gehet zu seinem Toren ein mit Danken" (German: "Stop his gates with gratitude),
The inscription on the gate for Iwięcin, dating from 1725, became illegible with time.
On one of the walls of the church hung a large epitaph, carved by pastor Zeidler, who held his office in the years 1635-1676.

In 1697, during the time of Pastor Malichius, a painting depicting the Last Judgment was made on boards forming the ceiling of the church. In later years it was covered with a layer of plaster. They were discovered again only in 1908. At that time, the historic 12-arm candlestick and the crown from the pulpit and baptismal font were moved from the attic of the church.
