Start of Angermeier Raft Trips on the Isar

Highlight • River

The almost 30 km long raft trip to Munich leads through the uniquely beautiful landscape of the Isar valley. The journey takes about 4.5 to 6 hours, depending on the water level. Along the way, you have to navigate three large weirs. Already in Mühltal, you pass the first raft slide, which is also the longest slide in Europe. 360 meters are covered in a roaring downhill ride at approx. 40 km/h with an 18-meter drop.

Pupplinger Au Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural

The nature reserve not only offers recreation for big city birds but also allows rare birds such as the common tern to breed. In any case, it is a gem that can be reached very easily and quickly from Munich city center by S-Bahn.

Isarspitz

Highlight • River

The area where the Loisach meets the Isar is popularly known as the Isarspitz. The area is constantly changing. The forces of the water change the course of the river and always create new, fascinating views. But caution is advised, as the path can also lie on the edge of the cliff.

Hike through the Pupplinger Au with our dog Thimmy.

A day on the wild Isar.

Since we started our "hiking with dogs" project, we have been rediscovering our favorite river again and again. This time, a new stage takes us from Icking through the Pupplinger Au to Wolfratshausen - about 12 kilometers of pure nature, accompanied by our friend Thimmy, …

The popular raft trips from the rafting town of Wolfratshausen into Munich unfortunately have to be cancelled today, as the Isar is carrying significantly more water than usual after heavy rainfall. However, a hike through the Pupplinger Au is still possible without rubber boots. Narrow, root-filled paths lead through the alluvial forest and partly along the Isar, which can still …

[Tour from 04/26/24 - Icking station > Icking station]

When do you ever get to be on dream trails outside of the night hours? This is possible just 39 minutes from Munich Central Station: Part of the first stage of the long-distance hiking trail "Dream Trail Munich - Venice" can be turned into a wonderful half-day tour.

However, the way back through the Pupplinger Au is very overgrown and so you have to climb a lot over fallen trees or even crawl under them.

A lovely hike in what were probably the last rays of sunshine for the next few days. The highlight was the path above the Loisach River with its views of the mountains and the Isar meadows from Riederschmidpark. After the Weiße Wand (White Wall), there was some wind damage, so it's advisable to descend to the left earlier. The return …

In spring, a beautiful tour through the Isar floodplains, where nature is just awakening. The paths are sometimes very narrow, and along the Isar, parts are almost washed away, making it impossible to stay on the path the whole time. Therefore, be careful not to disturb the birds during this time of year while they are nesting in the floodplains …
