Refreshing fountain with large pool. The water runs from the upper basin via grooves, which are attached round, artfully in the lower part to the drain. Depending on the wind force, the fountain sprays the spa guest or tourist, which is very pleasant in summer.

Františkovy Lázně Spa Center

Highlight • Historical Site

Already 500 years ago people discovered the healing properties of the local springs. However, the spa town was only founded at the end of the 18th century by the Austrian Emperor Franz I and named after him. During its heyday, many famous people lived in the city, including Johann Strauss, Prince Metternich, Franz Kafka and the world-famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

Incidentally, the world's first mud bath was founded in Františkovy Lázně.

The equestrian statue is reminiscent of the founder and promoter of the city as a health resort whose name carries the city.

April 18, 2025,🇨🇿 Franzensbad - Františkovy Lázně
After two beautiful, sunny, and warm days, a cold snap hit last night. Today it rained almost all day, and temperatures reached a maximum of 8 degrees Celsius 🥶. A full 16 degrees cooler than yesterday. Fortunately, warm temperatures and sunshine are forecast for tomorrow.

In Franzensbad, there are many different pramen (as lovely as the healing springs are) to admire while strolling through the center. Of course, you should never forget a drinking vessel. It's worth taking a sip. Franzensbad also boasts a very nice thermal spa.

Nice alternative to do something for body and soul in the dreary weather. The place is not particularly large and, at just over 200 years old, not particularly old either. At every step, however, one is reminded of the architecture and colors (yellow and ocher) of the Habsburg monarchy. Very popular with spa guests!
Unfortunately, the weather turned from cloudy …
