Franciscan Monastery Kadan

The history of the Franciscan monastery of the fourteen helpers goes back to a chapel first mentioned in 1469, to which the first Franciscans built a temporary building in 1473. In 1480 the church was inaugurated with three naves. The church was the final resting place of the Lords of Lobkowicz. The growth of the monastery was hampered by the Thirty Years' War. Restoration took place in the second half of the 17th century. During the Josephine reforms, the monastery escaped in 1785 barely the dissolution.

Úhošť (German Burberg) is a 593.3 m n.m. high mountain in the Doupovské hory mountains in Czech Republic. Because of its steppe vegetation and the special geological structure, the mountain was declared a national nature reserve (národní přírodní rezervace) in 1974. The Úhošť rises on the north-east flank of the Doupov Mountains at the scenic transition to the North Bohemian Basin. To the north at the foot of the hill on the river Ohře (Eger) lies the old royal town of Kadaň (Kaaden), to the west is the town of Klášterec (Klösterle). The small towns of Úhošťany (Atschau), Kadaňská Jeseň (Gösen), Zásada (Sosau), Pokutice (Pokatitz) and Brodce (Prödlas), which belong to the town of Kadaň, are located directly on the flanks of the mountain. The settlement Úhošť (Burberg), which used to be on the summit plateau, has died out.

After yesterday's stroll through the lovely old town of Kaaden, we went hiking today. We went from Kaaden to Úhošť. It's a table mountain with a fantastic view and beautiful scenery. We got the idea from @Ⓜ️ike®️ohsoft🧔🏻‍♂️ . Thank you, we really enjoyed it up there 👍😊🙋‍♂️🙋🏼.
