New Belgrade Promenade Along the Sava River

New Belgrade Block 70 & 45 was built in early '70 on the north banks of river Sava. Area was completely flooded and overgrown with bushes at that time. First, levees were built to stop the river, then huge amount of refuse stone was brought to level the whole area. New city was growing but more importantly those levees became hiking and biking trails for generations to come.
At first, it was favourite place of the local residents only, but over the time, became famous all over the world.
Huge Canadian Silver Maple trees are planted all along the way, making biking/walking pleasant and enjoyable.
The biggest attraction for most people would be restaurants and clubs built on top of the floating platforms along the Sava. Everyone is different and unique on its own way. Food choices are limitless. Live music and dancing, kids bouncing castle, theatre, artisan market and much more will keep you entertained for days.
One could say that area is dated and needs repairs or that could be cleaner. You would be probably right, but that doesn't make it less unique and interesting.

Sava Riverside Route Near Surčin

Nice road, sometimes concrete, sometimes cobblestone, mostly dirt. In dry weather can be traversed on any bike, in rain it's better to stick to gravel.
During spring and any other floody time try not to stick close to the river, stay on higher part of embankment.
There are also a few aggressive dogs in villages close to the river.

It is the latest Belgrade bridge over the Sava, connecting new part of the city with famous Ada Ciganlija Park. When riding Eurovelo 6, now you can use it to connect to that part of the city. There is only one path for both directions, not so wide, so be careful when approaching incoming cyclists, specially if fully loaded with panniers. Happy riding

If coming from the North (Novi Sad) on EuroVelo6 route, You can get there biking over new Ada Bridge or by ferry boat from Blok 70 (end of street Omladinskih Brigada). In summer can be busy as this is the most popular local spot. Happy riding
