November 18, 2025,🇪🇨Charles Darwin Research Station - Puerto Ayora/ Santa Cruz🐢🐢🦎⛅️👨🏼🧙‍♀️
A research station named after Charles Darwin, who spent about five weeks in the Galapagos Islands in 1835, provides information about the local wildlife and is also involved in breeding tortoises.

Among the exhibits is Lonesome George, who died in 2012 as the last of his kind.

Showing Translation

In the afternoon we stroll from the hotel through our town of Puerta Ayora, on the edge of which is the Charles Darwin research station. Here we not only meet living giant tortoises of different species, but also the embalmed "Lonesome George".

Showing Translation

This morning, we took a speedboat to Santa Cruz Island early. A quick stroll through town followed by the Charles Darwin Station. Here, turtles 🐢 are raised and released back into the wild after a few years.

There's also a lot of other information about the animals there.

Afterward, our rooms at the hotel were ready 🏨
