Dronningholm Castle Ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

Dronningholm Slot was a medieval castle on a fjord in North Zealand, which later became today's Arresø. The beginnings of the system go back to Valdemar the store. The castle was completed in 1200 by Valdemar Sejr.
The castle went up in flames in 1525 and in 1557 the building material was used for the construction of Frederiksborg Slot in Hillerød.

Frederiksværk Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The beautiful red brick church was consecrated in 1911. The bell dates from 1758. It was cast in the cannon foundry and initially served as the town bell. The city then donated the bell to the church on the condition that it ring at 10 p.m., as before. You still do that today.

Beautifully located between Arresø and Roskilde Fjord is the cozy canal town Frederiksværk with its many iconic bridges. In streets and alleys, old houses and buildings testify to the city's past as Denmark's first industrial city, but Frederiksværk is much more than that.
