Wakefield Spring

Highlight • Rest Area

This is a ground water spring where you can refill your water bottles with fresh, cold, natural spring water for free without generating any waste. You will typically encounter locals refilling large water containers to bring home. It's also a decent enough rest shelter with a few benches and a roof. The spring is dedicated to local councilor Lorne Shouldice whose initiative in 1986 ensured that the spring was not buried during road construction.

Wakefield Covered Bridge

Great peace of history.
Original bridge was built in 1915 but burned down in 1984.
Village raised the funds to rebuild the new one in 1998.
At the time it was the first bridge to connect two shores of Gatineau river.

Pretty easy and nice mountain bike tour. The Trail 53 is very well maintained, it is frequented by walkers and other ciclistes, so you must be prepare to share and to say hello.
