There is actually a better place to join. Ride down the hill and turn right past the school. Over the brook and right. Takes you to the canal and you don’t have to carry the bike. Sure steps rideable on a full sus but on hard tail or gravel bike this way on is better

Mamucium Roman Fort

Highlight • Historical Site

Partially reconstructed and open to the public as part of Castlefield's Roman Gardens, Mamucium is a must for history buffs. Originally founded in AD 79, the fort was mostly levelled during the Industrial Revolution to make way for infrastructure projects.
