Forth and Clyde Canal Towpath

Highlight • Cycleway

Good straights and class scenery. Roots at certain sections growing under the tarmac, which can make it a bit of a tough getting the power down. Lovely views.

15.4 km

The start of the West Highland Way is very urban, and the first section will feel more like a country park. Good paths and signs will lead you out of the town towards Loch Lomond.

Singletrack Along the River

Highlight • Trail

I'll bet it's pretty shin bashing stuff in the summer, but it's a super fun single track along a lovely bit of a river!

22.7 km

Once you leave the Kelvin River the path passes through some farmlands. It's quite narrow and rough in some sections. Beware of hidden potholes

The Forth and Clyde Canal was constructed in 1790. It was successful initially but closed in the 1960s. Today it's a leisure destination with a brilliant towpath making an ideal cycling outing.
