River Don Riverside Path, Sprotbrough

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

The Trans Pennine Trail is a super good multi-use trail that links the North and Irish Seas via Hornsea to Southport. At 215 miles (346 km), it is a brilliant long trail that traverses the Pennines, travels alongside rivers and canals, as well as going through some of the most charming towns in England.

Sprotbrough is one such place, being one of the nicest riverside towns out there with so many attractions such as Sprotbrough Weir, Sprotbrough Flash Nature Reserve, and of course nearby iconic Conisbrough Viaduct.

The Don Gorge is a must if traveling from doncaster to conisborough, but i plead to you... please stick to the cycle way. I took the walking path and it was not for the faint hearted!

You can use the viaduct to cross over the river, this gives you great views of the valley and Consiborough castle. Or there is a gravel trail which goes underneath the viaduct and the follows the river away from Conisborough, choose this route if you want to see the viaduct in its full magnitude

The RSPB Old Moor nature reserve is 220 acres of wetland nature reserve which is home to some of the finest and rarest birds in Britain. Here, you can expect to find bitterns, lapwings, redshanks, avocets and golden plovers, as well as tress sparrows and willow tits. NCN62 Cycle Path: Toll Bar to Bentley Park

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Section of the NCN62 that runs from Toll Bar to Bentley Park. The trail continues beyond this highlight in both directions but this section is a good way of getting off the busy A19.
The old cinder track has recently been replaced with a new tarmac surface, so is accessible to all users.

Traffic-Free Section of NCN62

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

This section of the NCN62 looks like to used to be an old road but is now closed to motorised traffic. The surface is a bit unveven but it's still just about fine for road bikes. There's a gated railway crossing and the gates are super-heavy. It's quite difficult to manage them and a bike if you're riding solo.
