A brilliant family cycle along a traffic-free route from Ballater to Aboyne. We returned to Ballater by bus.
This is the Aboyne to Ballater section of the Deeside Way (& return along the same route). A really great gravel path through forestry and with views to surrounding hills at times. Parts of the route rejoin the old railway line where you can spot old platforms. This route was suitable on my hybrid bike while pulling my little one …
40km round trip from Ballater to Aboyne may sound like a long way for a slice of cake, but the cakes at the Black Faced Sheep Cafe are definitely worth it.
