In the middle of the village is the free-standing bell tower of the Udenheim Protestant parish, which was first put into service on October 24, 1875.

After the Protestant schoolhouse, which had a turret with two bells, was sold and the wooden emergency tower was in need of renovation, the local council began to think about building a massive simultaneous bell tower for the police and church service bells in 1860.

The estimated cost was 1,400 guilders, financed by the church and school building fund with 800 guilders and 300 guilders each from the Protestant and Catholic parishes.

The negotiations proved extremely difficult and dragged on for almost 15 years.

It was not until the end of 1873 that the Protestant parish bought a 20.6 m2 space for 58 guilders and 48 kreutzers. In 1874/75, they built a stone bell tower for 8283 guilders and 10 kreutzers and since then they have received 200 DM / 102.76 € annually from the local community for the police bells.
