Upper gate / fortification - KleinWallstadt 🚴‍

Highlight • Historical Site

Remains of the old fortification from the early 14th century with two preserved shell towers, walls and loopholes on the north, south and especially along the east side with loopholes are still preserved from the local fortification of Kleinwallstadt.

Remains of the north-western round tower and a side round tower with a keyhole notch and a historicizing crenellated wreath next to the former gate at the end of Obere Gasse are still present.

They document the former administrative-political importance of the market town in the Mainz Electorate. 🚴‍

Old Federal Road Obernburg–Wörth (Cycle Path)

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

On this old piece of federal highway, you can unwind for almost 3.5 kilometers or just really accelerate. The super cute curve also has its appeal in a group. This is a particularly good place to practice or perfect the Belgian roundabout.

Unfortunately, the asphalt leaves a lot to be desired in some places, but due to the fact that in most cases you are traveling among like-minded people, you can turn a blind eye. A really great highlight! 😉👍

This 5 m wide and approx. 5 km dead straight land consolidation path leads through the districts of Niedernberg, Großwallstadt and Obernburg. A real dream road for cyclists and skaters, in the middle of which there is actually a Wein-Hacke. The Niedernberger Seehotel is also within striking distance.

Old Town Hall of Pflaumheim

Highlight • Historical Site

Old Town Hall (1548) - Pflaumheim 🚴‍

The historic town hall stands at the heart of Pflaumheim's town center. Dating back to 1548, it is the oldest surviving town hall in the Aschaffenburg district. Along with the parish church of St. Lucia, built on a small hill, it is Pflaumheim's most striking landmark. Having fallen into disrepair over the centuries, the town hall was on the verge of demolition in the 1960s. A small group of citizens successfully fought to preserve the historic building. Renovations were completed in 1982, and the town's 450th anniversary was celebrated in 1998. Architectural highlights include the open hall on the ground floor and the protruding half-timbered upper floor. 🚴‍

Climb to Mömmlingen

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Beautiful, mostly little-used road towards Mömmlingen. The climb is sharp at the beginning, then very relaxed later in the forest.

You should definitely use this bridge to cross the Main on foot or by bike. It goes from Obernburg from the Main meadows to Elsenfeld to the train station.

July 14, 2024,Lazy sunday afternoon ride
Last little training session before our Olympic tour next Tuesday up and down the Main. And to get rid of the vitamins from the weekend, a burnout at the col de Ebbelwoi. Feel good, we can get started, semper paratus ;-)

A short tour before the heat sets in, along the Mümling to the Main River, and over the Bauernautobahn (farmer's highway) to Großostheim and back into the upper Bachgau. It was really cool again.
