Schwerinsburg - Kummerow until 1733, renamed Schwerinsburg by King Friedrich Wilhelm 1st.
Christoph Graf von Schwerin built a baroque castle, which burned down in 1945. Von Schwerin was field marshal under Friedrich II.
In 1815 the first gymnastics area in Pomerania was built by Ludwig Jahn.
