Always along the water
On the banks of the Ems-Jade Canal, you cycle across the East Frisian peninsula, past small villages and past historic locks and bridges that preserve the original character of the region. On the tour you will experience three different landscape types: the marsh, the geest and the moor. The route leads from the old Emden inland port via Aurich to the naval town of Wilhelmshaven. Immediately in Emden you pass the boiler lock. A cultural-historical building and a listed rarity worth seeing. As you continue your journey, it is worth taking a detour to the Great Sea before heading to Ihlow, the geographical center of East Frisia. In the middle of Ihlow lies the 350 hectare forest with a monastery site, from whose roof turret you can take a look over the whole of East Frisia.
