The oldest known written mention of Watzhahn took place under the name Wetzigishan in 1344 in a document from the Eberbach monastery. It shows that the Eberbach monastery receives goods from Hertwin von Watzhahn (Wetzigishan). [3] The village was probably depopulated as a result of the Thirty Years' War. It was not settled again until 1682.
