Batterie Todt casemate 3 / Tower III

Highlight • Other

Casemate 3, Batterie Todt, also known as Turm III, is a bunker that was part of a coastal battery built by the German Wehrmacht during World War II. The battery was located near the French village of Audinghen, on the English Channel at Cap Gris-Nez. The battery consisted of four guns with a caliber of 38 centimeters, which could fire on England. The casemate 3 was largely destroyed by an ammunition explosion in the 1950s, which killed three French workers. Some remains of the bunker can still be seen, which have been overgrown by nature.

This gravel track is really pleasant: rolling, green and panoramic! Take advantage of this section shared with pedestrians.

The Chti Blockhouse

Highlight • Other

Le Chti Blockhaus is a holiday home in a former World War II bunker, located on the beach of Audresselles, a charming fishing village between the two capes on the Opal Coast. It is a unique and original place to stay with a beautiful view of the sea. The bunker has been renovated and equipped with modern comfort, and is adjacent to a house with an enclosed courtyard. The house can receive up to 10 people, with 4 bedrooms, one of which is in the old ammunition room.

Photospot n°3: "The seals of Noirda":
For lovers of wild places, the Cran du Noirda is the perfect place. A small cove awaits you a stone's throw from Audresselles. It inaugurates a whole string of “notches” which will follow one another as follows: the Mademoiselle cran, the Chicken cran, the Egg cran which announce the cliffs of the Gris-Nez. Be careful, it is not uncommon to see a few seals and sea calves that come to enjoy the fish-filled waters of this part of the coast.

Fort d'Ambleteuse

Highlight • Historical Site

This fort is the only one left of the seven that defended the coast of Boulogne.
In 169, the English king James II, chased away by his subjects, came ashore in the already silted up harbour. When Napoleon planned an invasion of England, part of his fleet was located here. From the beach you have a view of the entrance to the port of Boulogne and in clear weather even of the English cliffs.

La Slack Lock

Highlight • Other

The Slack is a small coastal river, which flows into the sea, near Fort Ambleteuse.
Although modest today, the Slack was much more imposing in the past, when the gravel was mined near the fort. At the time of the Camp de Boulogne, between 1803 and 1805, Napoleon had even thought of bringing his fleet here. Suffice to say that the Slack was something else!
