The English garden has plenty of seating and is beautifully landscaped. However, also very frequented!

Interlaken

Highlight • Settlement

The holiday resort Interlaken lies between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun and nestled between the three mighty mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The place is not that big at all, but it brings quite a bit of urban flair to your tour with various other localities. There are all kinds of hotels and shops, several campsites, two (intercity) train stations and even an airport. On the shore of the lake you will find a few particularly nice places for a little break. Due to its convenient location and its transport links, Interlaken is the ideal starting point for a holiday in the Bernese Oberland.

We were not on the Harder Kulm because the 40, - CHF deterred us for a return trip. With two people 80, - francs, then better run up and down again.

Great path along the Aare.

An architectural dream made of steel and rivets. The bridge allows trains and pedestrians to cross the Aare. In the direction of Ringgenberg, the cat trail begins immediately afterwards.

Interlaken East Railway Station

Highlight • Rest Area

Interlaken East Station
The station was opened on July 1, 1874 by the then Bödelibahn as the Interlaken Customs House, when it extended its line from the then Interlaken station (now Interlaken-West) to Bönigen. In 1887, the line was extended to Bönigen for a boat connection. The second part of the BB between Interlaken-East and Bönigen turned out to be a flop and was definitely discontinued in 1969.
In 1916, the importance of the Interlaken-East station as a transport hub increased again when the last section of the Brünig Railway between Brienz and Interlaken was opened to traffic. The current reception building dates from 1917 and was built when the station's function as a hub increased again with the opening of the Brünig Railway. Today, the reception building is a listed building.
