"... The Sint-Willibrorduskerk is the parish church of Geijsteren.
The oldest church in Geijsteren may have been a wooden building from the 10th century, which was replaced by a (natural) stone church. In 1525 a Gothic church was built. Its tower was preserved when a new neo-Gothic church was built in 1864-1865 based on plans by Carl Weber. The tower was restored in 1885 by Carl Weber and in 1923 by Caspar Franssen. At the end of 1944, however, the church and tower were destroyed in the war. The Willibrord clock from 1416 (and recast 1691) has been lost and the church inventory has also been lost except for a few statues by Willibrord, and a painting executed from an engraving by Abraham Bloemaert has also survived. These items found a place in the new church to be built.
This new church was built on a different site from the old one and was completed in 1949. The architect was Alfons Boosten. A wooden bell tower was erected next to the church, in which the Catherine bell from 1416 was hung. In 1979 this bell tower was replaced by an open concrete bell tower next to the church, designed by P.W. Lerou.
The organ is a Verschueren organ from 1951. ..."
