De la Faille Castle at Minnewater

Highlight • Castle

The Castle de la Faille on the Minnewater in Bruges was built in 1890 in neo-Gothic style to a plan by architect Charles De Wulf for the flower trader Leon De Wulf.
This merchant had a flour mill along the Kolenkaai, and was also alderman of Bruges.
In 1980 the city council bought the castle and realized the full connection to the Minnewater by expanding the park. The castle was protected as a monument in 1996.

The Lake of Love is the old port of Bruges, it was a dock where foreign ships arriving in Bruges loaded with wool, wine and other imported products docked, and it existed at least since the 16th century.

Horse Fountain

Highlight • Monument

It cannot be ignored that the Wijngaardplein is also the staging point for the coachmen. The horses enjoy a short break here and get to drink the water from the horse fountain.

Bonifacius Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The very photogenic Bonifacius Bridge may be one of Bruges' youngest bridges, but it still perfectly summarizes the city. A mysterious atmosphere, romance in abundance and fabulous sights that compete for your attention. Staring at the canals and overhanging half-timbered houses. A magical place at any time of the day.

This statue dates from the 18th century and is located on the Nepomucenus Bridge in Wollestraat. It is a design by Pieter Pepers from 1767. Note the crucifix and the devotional lanterns. In 1795 it was thrown into line by the Jacobins and placed back on its pedestal in 1811. On the left we see the tower of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk. John Nepomucenus is a well-known bridge saint, especially in Central Europe.

Market Square, Bruges

Highlight • Historical Site

The Markt has been the beating heart of Bruges for centuries, which is dominated by the 83 m high Belfry, the pride of the city. If you visit the Belfry and climb the tower, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view. On the Markt itself, admire the imposing Provincial Court, the many colorful stepped gables and the statue of Jan Breydel and Pieter de Coninck.

Today's walk takes place in Bruges, Belgium. This is a preparation for future city tours featuring the sights of Bruges. It crisscrosses the beautiful city, never stopping at the same spot twice. I took the train from Welkenraedt. It cost €8.50, and it's a senior citizen. It starts at 9:25 a.m. on weekdays and opens earlier on weekends. There are …

Our local guide Jeff led us through the most beautiful corners of the old city of Bruges. I was really impressed by the many great houses, palaces, parks, churches and beautiful canals. It was like Venice in the north. 😀

Triosence . Go for it

We parked in the Centrum-Station parking garage. We took the bus to the 't Zand stop. From there, we walked back toward the parking garage, passing various sights.

A day in Bruges. A beautiful sunny day.

Market Square, Historicum, St. Salvator's Cathedral, canals, no matter where you go it is beautiful.

In the Beguinage it is quieter than outside and there is a nice atmosphere.

Waffles, fries we enjoyed on the way.
At "de halve Man" there was Belgian house beer and delicious ham.

Beginning of autumn 🍁🍂🍁
We arrive in Bruges/West Flanders under sunny, partly cloudy skies and 17°C. The city is full of tourists and locals; Whether it was due to the good weather or Saturday is beyond my knowledge 🤔. The Belgian waffles are a culinary delight, which is why we had them twice today ☕️🧇🤗. In 2000, the town center …

Today, again in the rain, a city tour of Bruges with a visit to the chocolate museum and the beer museum followed by a tasting.
There were so many impressions there that it was impossible to remember everything.
The city with its canals, boats, cobbled streets and carriages is also beautiful to look at.
