Windmills on the windmill
Until 1977, the polder mill, together with a motor auxiliary pumping station, drained the Broekzijdse Polder (317 ha). When it was built in 1641, external windmills were not yet common in this region and the mill was fitted with an internal windmill wheel. Nowadays, the mill has a tail mill with a windmill wheel with which the mill can be turned to the wind.

Restoration
In 2009, Utrechts Landschap restored the mill. The cap and the crosspiece were repaired, new braces and a new tail were hung on the mill and in 2011 the scoop wheel was lowered. Since then, the mill can do what it was built for: grinding!
