Moulsford Railway Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

This huge railway bridge crosses the River Thames here. It is locally known as "Four Arches"... because of its four arches. There are two parallel bridges here, in fact, so the bridge is actually two bridges.

The original bridge was built between 1838 and 1840 for the main route of the Great Western Railway. The second, parallel, bridge was added in the 1890s.

It's a very imposing and impressive structure, particularly if you are just immediately below on the river bank path here.

Wallingford Bridge

Highlight • Historical Site

This impressive medieval bridge over the River Thames allows you to step back in time. Built in the 14th century. Wallingford Bridge is 900 feet (270 m) long and has 19 arches. In 1646, four arches were removed so a drawbridge could be built during the siege of the castle in the Civil War of 1646. These were replaced with timber structures until repair in 1751.

St Leonard's Church, Wallingford

Highlight • Religious Site

A church has stood on this site since the Saxon period, and this iteration is certainly the oldest in the town. If you've an eye for historic architecture, you can spy the late Saxon stonework, particularly in the north wall. Seek out its information board in the churchyard to read about its fascinating history and marvel at how much this building has witnessed.
