Great alternative to the main road in both directions. Steep in places and in winter can be slippery in the wooded part out of Bakewell.

Chatsworth House

Highlight • Viewpoint

Chatsworth House is like something from a period drama. In fact, it was the filming location for Mr Darcy’s Pemberley home in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Standing proudly amid rolling hills with the River Derwent meandering gently by, it is a stunning sight. The 17th-century house contains works of art that span 4,000 years. The 105-acre garden, designed by Joseph Paxton, is equally famous. With historic waterworks, sculptures, a Victorian rock garden, a maze, plus more, there is a lot to explore.

Great views of the Chatsworth Estate, even better when there's no traffic, just watch out for the sheep

A fun fast descent is also a good long climb that starts on tarmac becomes an undulating green lane farm track before finally steeper and rockier near the top.

Beeley Moor Summit

Highlight • Climb

Beely Moor lies between Beely and Chesterfield above Chatsworth House. This remote road climbs over the moor reaching a high point of about 340m. There are great views and nice riding.
