Great starting point for all sorts of hikes and off road rides.
The café offers very generous sandwiches on bread of your choice, including gluten free, various sorts of cakes (the carrot cake is gluten free).
A good place to sit down after a hard day 👍.

Glen Trool to Loch Trool starting off on paved road and then on to a glorious gravel road through a damp and green Glen, definitely one to ride/hike if exploring the area

Loch Dee

Loch Dee is a small water popular with fishermen, which is also the source of the River Dee which flows to the east. It is featured on National Cycle Route 7 (Sunderland to Inverness), so you'll find the Sustrans marker on the shore side, as well as the Southern Upland Way. It's a very remote part of Galloway Forest Park, so make sure you have plenty of supplies with you if you're passing Loch Dee.

Striking dam that creates Clattringshaws Loch. You can't walk along the dam or get too close to the loch from here but it's a great structure to look at.

Clatteringshaws Loch is a freshwater reservoir that was created by damming the Galloway River Dee as part of the Galloway Hydro Electric Scheme. The dam is pretty cool and there are loads of good benches and picnic spots to rest and appreciate the amazing views.

There is also a visitors' centre by the loch to welcome visitors to Galloway Forest Park.
