Exhibition Park in the southeast corner of the larger Town Moor common ground has numerous facilities including sports areas, a boating lake and playgrounds. The area was named Exhibition Park after the Jubilee Exhibition in 1887, the only remaining fixture from that time is the bandstand.
Today other than being a nice area to run through the main attraction for a runner is the cafe, perfect for a coffee after a run, before the Great North Run which starts nearby or after the Saturday parkrun.

Freemen's Coronation Clock Tower

Highlight • Monument

Erected in 1953 as a gift of the Freemen to the City of Newcastle. Built of special brick supplied by the National Coal Board. Cost £757 6s 5d.
It has two clock faces, one to the north and one to the south. A Westmorland slate commemorative tablet reads 'THE CLOCK TOWER WAS ERECTED IN 1953 BY THE FREEMEN OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE TO COMMEMORATE THE CORONATION OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II.

A classic Town Moor start—bottlenecked for the first 200m, so it was straight onto the grass for a bit off cross-country 😂. A nice mix of flat sections and some cheeky inclines to keep the legs entertained. Freezing …
