Holme Force (waterfall)

Highlight • Forest

Holme Beck's cascades tumble down from the Loweswater fells of Burnbank Fell, Blake Fell and Carling Knott, empyting into Loweswater after a delightful journey through Holme Wood. These three fells, two of which are Wainwrights, make for a modest but beautiful fellwalk, while a stroll through Holme Wood along the shores of Loweswater is classic Lakeland.

Burnbank Fell

Highlight • Natural

Burnbank Fell is a 1,558-foot (475 m) hill in the Western Lake District. It's the most northerly of a long ridge that starts beside Loweswater and links up to the Buttermere Edge via Great Borne. Walking the full ridge over multiple Wainwright summits, you never drop lower than around 1,300 feet (400 m) all the way to Haystacks, it's a great traverse that increases in drama and magnificence as the walk goes on.

Blake Fell Summit

Highlight • Natural Monument

Beautiful Blake Fell. I hiked this as a group of five Wainwrights (Burnbank Fell 475m, Blake Fell 573m, Gavel Fell 526m, Hen Comb 509m and Mellbreak 512m). It was a loop from Stuart Marshal's Wainwright book (Route No 34). World class picture postcard views!

Loweswater

Highlight • Natural Monument

Loweswater is a peaceful lake that's often missed by many visitors. At approximately 1 mile long (1.6 km) and 0.5 mile (0.8 km) wide, it provides an excellent lake circuit for walkers with magnificent views to enjoy. If you don't fancy hiking around the whole body of water, though, why not enjoy the serene Holme Wood?

Holme Wood Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Holme Wood is a quiet and peaceful place to visit. The mixed woodland of alder, oak, lime, chestnut, ash and sycamore is not as visited as you might expect, meaning you can enjoy it in relative solitude. Running from the shores of Loweswater up the fellside to a height of almost 900 feet, Holme Wood's inviting pathways will lead you to spectacular views too.

Goblin Tree

Highlight • Forest

The Goblin Tree in the woodland beside Loweswater in the Lake District has it's own door, handle and key together with cute little signs. Great for capturing the imagination of little ones

Three innocuous little Wainwrights on the lovely Loweswater setting. Glorious views towards the business end of things.
One minute we were in the clag the next minute we weren't! 😄
