Bawd Stone

Highlight • Natural Monument

Whether a dolmen or a fortuitous natural arrangement of rock (the jury is still out), this Bawd Stone has been visited since days of old for healing.

The less informed of bygone days thought that if one was to crawl beneath (not advised at the moment as I can confirm it has a pool of water there) then 'the devil would be knocked off the back'.

In fact, the stone was whitewashed to 'christianise' it many years ago but has since lost all trace of paint due to exposure to the elements.

My personal theory is that because the earth is wonderfully made and gives off free energy in the form of electrons (the earth is a magnet) and because gritstone is rich in quartz which amplifies energy, the body physically benefits when we contact with it.

Nothing supernatural.
Just very super and VERY natural!

Since the devastating fire of the roaches last summer, the upper branches of these magnificent pines were badly scorched.

But yesterday I was heartened to see nature is doing what it does best, recovering despite major setbacks.

The lower branches were full of baby pine needles and cone flowers.

Even in normal circumstances, the new growth of pine is breathtakingly beautiful but when seen in a pine graveyard, it is just beauty on an entirely different level.

The Roaches

Highlight • Viewpoint

Both I and a friend remarked how this looks like Aslan's Stone Table in Narnia.

If you recall the account, it was a long table that broke at the point of Aslan's death.
