Managed by the Woodland Trust Halldale Wood is a large area of mixed woodland straddling Halldale Brook. The woods consist of a mix of Oak, Birch and Ash with some Yew. There is a good ground cover of plants and shrub and lots of woodland birds and other wildlife.

The Sydnop Brook flows down from the pond below Sydnope Hall and into the larger Potter Dam. Below the Potter and Fancy Dam it becomes Warney Brook.
The Sydnop Brook is small and tumbling with a nice little waterfall close to the steep and sometimes muddy/slippery path. It's a pretty walk up through the woodland.

Set off from Forty Acre Piece in the lull between storms "Dudley" & "Eunice". Down through the Halldale Valley and back up along Warney Brook.
Plenty of water about 🥾💧 a few trees down 🌳🪵

December 26, 2024,Halldale Wood – Sydnop Brook Waterfall loop from Darley Dale

Short little walk on boxing day. This is a good one that takes in lots of waterfalls with great views down the valley to Darley Dale and matlock
