Kranjska Gora

Highlight • Settlement

Great little town with flair right on the Tri Glove National Park 6 km from Austria and 20 km from Italy. Plenty of accommodations and centrally located. Despite the sunshine you can feel the coolness of the mountains on the beautiful river Pišnica. Here we have stopped off and recovered from the 8-day hike a bit. In the distance you can still see the impressive mountains.
This also seems to be a cycling paradise, ranging from rentable wheels and e-bikes to the excellent signposted bike lanes and tours with km specifications and recommendations for bike types.

Kranjska Gora town centre

Highlight • Settlement

Kranjska Gora is a well-known hotspot for winter and summer sports. The downhill routes are legendary. If you want something more dignified, the train bike path to Tarvisio in Italy is a nice option. A little outside of the village towards the Vršičpass there is the wonderfully clear Lake Jasna, which offers great refreshment, especially after an extended bike tour.

There are numerous accommodations for every budget in the village.

View of the Alps Valley

Highlight • Viewpoint

At the sight of the rocks, which were covered to the summit, we felt almost transported to Asia and rested and looked here for quite a while, before we continued uphill to the hut.

View of the Julian Alps

Highlight • Viewpoint

Down the easy way (piste without snow). Going downhill on loose stones is anything but easy. It's special to come down the mountain like this.

Julian Alps

The Pearls of the Alpine Country

Mighty mountains offering uniquely beautiful views; crystal-clear waters glistening in the sun; and a green landscape that provides peace and recharges your batteries. All this awaits you in the heart of the Julian Alps, where the mountains rise more than 2,500 meters into the sky. The king among them is Triglav (opens in a new window), Slovenia's highest mountain, which holds symbolic significance for the Slovenes. It demands a high degree of respect, as the climb is not easy. Therefore, it is best to climb it accompanied by mountain guides (opens in a new window).

July 28, 2022,Kranjska Gora - Ciprnik - Kranjska Gora
Due to construction work on the way, we decided to descend via the ski slope for the way back, which was not very comfortable. It is better to decide to descend towards Lake Jasna while the construction work on the lift is ongoing.
