Corrour Railway Station

Highlight • Restaurant

Situated at the highest mainland railway station in the UK, the fantastic food that awaits is best reached not by rail but by bike via the superb Road to the Isles

Loch Ossian Youth Hostel

Highlight • Mountain Hut

In 1931 this was Scotland's second Youth Hostel (Broadmeadows in Selkirk was first by a few days). Men's dorm sleeps 12 in bunks. Corrour Estate hydro supplies electricity for light, hot showers and heating, although the fire still works well.

Loch Ossian Youth Hostel

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Loch Ossian Youth Hostel is a brilliant little simplistic hostel in the remote Corrour Estate, not far from the UK's most remote train station and restaurant!

There are separate dorms for men and women, although there are also rooms for families too. There's a lovely communal living room and kitchen which is great for playing cards with your friends with a wee dram! There's also composting toilets and no rubbish disposal, so you'll need to take this with you.

If you'd like a hearty meal, head to the nearby Station Inn pub up the road. There's no access by road to the hostel, so you'll need to arrive on foot or by bike.

View of Loch Ossian

Highlight • Lake

The Loch boasts stunning views from all corners, by my favourites are the initial ones looking across these small islands. We had cloud cover, but I'm sure on a clear day they would be even more impressive.

View of Corrour Station

Highlight • Restaurant

Corrour Station lies at the foot of Leum Uilleim and Beinn a‘ Bhric in a picturesque landscape. The train station is - despite its remoteness - a popular start for outdoor activities. There is a restaurant with hot meals and delicious cakes, snacks and souvenirs.
