Blackquarries Hill

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

A bit of a brute! Over 20% for long sections and quite long overall. I stopped the segment here as the MTB guys might wanna pick up the bridleways, but the climb drags on for a while longer, but thankfully at a much shallower gradient (<5%). Another thing to be thankful for is the surface, it's good and much better than some of the other climbs in these parts, but the road is very narrow, so traffic can be an issue.

Blacksmiths Hill

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

The first section has some loose gravel over the road, making it hard to get traction. Then a little reprieve before the climbing actually starts. It pitches up to 10-12% until the first left hander then up again to beyond 20% through the right hand curve, finishing up the steep stuff just before the second left hand. 80-100m of climbing in around half a kilometre. The drag at the end is fine, You'll probably want to stop and take in the view like I did.

I think Blackquarries has a smoother surface but this has one of the most pleasant lead outs through the valley of Ozleworth. Very narrow and a mix of good and broken tarmac.

Ozleworth Lake

Highlight • Lake

One of the highlights (of which there are many) of a truly beautiful and secluded valley.
