The northwest top of Slieve Foye is a little lower at 535 m (1,755 ft), but the ridge is fun and you can combine the two summits and make a great loop.

Slieve Foy or Slieve Foye is a mountain on the Cooley Peninsula in Louth, Ireland. It rises to 589 metres (1,932 ft), making it the highest of the Cooley Mountains and the highest in Louth. It overlooks Carlingford Lough and the village of Carlingford, and is sometimes called Carlingford Mountain.

Carlingford

The small town of Carlingford is located between Carlingford Lough and Mount Slieve Foy. It can be reached daily by bus from Dundalk and Newry. Carlingford was built around King John's Castle, which is still in ruins today. You can also see the ruins of a Dominican monastery, the Tower House, the city gate and the beautiful St. Michael's Church in Carlingford. The nearby Slieve Foy is great for hiking and enjoying great views.

Carlingford Castle (King John's Castle)

Carlingford Castle sits behind Slieve Foye and dominates the towns skyline overlooking the harbour. It is thought the castle was built around 1190 by the Norman baron Hugh de Lacy. However the Hugh families power made King John of England uneasy and he seized the property for himself.
