Located at the top station of the Belchenbahn. In my opinion, the trail offers better views.

Belchen House

Highlight • Mountain Hut

When the weather is nice, the inn is very full due to the cable car. It's self-service - you place your order at the counter and you get drinks straight away. If you want to eat, you have to announce the table number and the food will be brought. This worked extremely quickly during our visit. You take drinks from the bar. It's a simple menu (potato salad with Wiener, schnitzel fries, soup of the day). The cake is delicious.

Belchen Summit (1,414 m)

Highlight • Summit

The Belchen is not the highest mountain, but it is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Black Forest, because it offers visitors a fantastic panoramic view of the Rhine Valley, the Vosges and, in good weather, even as far as the Alps. As one of the most popular excursion destinations in the southern Black Forest, the Belchen is well frequented all year round.

View of the Wiesental valley

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Wiesental is a valley in the southern Black Forest, named after the river Wiese. The Wiese is a right tributary of the Rhine. It rises at the Feldberg and flows out near Basel. The Wiesental was one of the earliest industrialized areas of the former Grand Duchy of Baden and an important production site for the textile industry.

With the exception of the two Swiss municipalities of Riehen and Basel at the mouth of the Wiese and the municipality of Feldberg with the Wiesenquelle (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district), the Wiesental belongs entirely to the Lörrach district. It stretches along the 55-kilometer course of the meadow in a southwesterly direction from the Feldberg (where the meadow rises at around 1200 m above sea level) to Basel (244 m above sea level). Approximately in the middle of the valley, below Schopfheim, the meadow joins its largest tributary, the Kleine Wiese. The Kleine Wiese is created near Tegernau by the merger of the Köhlgarten and Belchenwiese, its valley is known as the Kleines Wiesental.

The largest town in the Wiesental is Lörrach with around 49,000 inhabitants, followed by Schopfheim with around 19,000.

A great hike with great views and scenic highlights.

We started today at the valley station of the Belchen cable car. Even if the trip up and down only costs € 8.50, we decided to run. At the mountain station you can go on for about 1 km and you are at the summit cross at 1,414 m. Up there, too, we didn't find the summer of 2021, so …

Our, first, last tour here; again in the nicest weather...
Our gondola dog would have loved to have gone up the first stretch; but it has probably been idle for a few days.
After the first left turn, it actually went right up again, which was much too steep because it was icy. So back and up the ski slope …

Comfortable tour since we skipped the climb.
Down the trail along the Westweg.
On the Belchen and the tour down is really something for the eye 👁️

It was very beautiful, varied and demanding, you should be on your way to condition, unfortunately it was pretty foggy on the summit, but it was a lot of fun, we will repeat the hike again. The hike is highly recommended

To round off our three-day short vacation, we went to the Belchen today.
From the Belchenbahn car park on the Belchensteig up to the Belchenhaus. We had arranged to meet @Marko there. Thank you Marko for the nice company on the most beautiful sections of the path to the Böllener Eck.
From there we went back on tow paths to …

That was a very varied hike on and on the Belchen. 😀

We started in light rain and pulled in Belchen. Over time, as predicted, it increasingly cleared up.

At first the tour starts moderately, then it goes uphill. Since we were unfortunately limited in time, we had to get down directly from the Belchenhaus. Alternatively, you could have made …
