The track around the loch has maybe 150 to 200mtrs of jetty, similar to what you get at boat marinas. The earth under the jettys is wet and low level, it looks like marshland. The jettys must be 4ft wide so easy to ride on and pass people with horn warning

Castle Ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

Few years back you could visit the ruins. It looks like remains are unstable and the area is fenced off to prevent access.

Picnic Site with Lake View

Highlight • Lake

There is a gravel path that runs parallel to the B7020 called the Lochmaben Castle Path. Halfway along is a picnic site that looks out over the lake. Good place to stop for a breather in the shade of the trees.

Castle Loch

Highlight • Trail

Of Lochmaben's trio of lochs, Castle Loch is by far the largest covering almost 250 acres (100 ha). The small peninsula that juts into its southern banks is adorned with the historic ruins of Lochmaben Castle. The western end hosts a wood sculpture trail, whilst a full circuit of the loch is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.
