Fontaube Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Col de Fontaube is of medium category, and rises to only 650 meters. A warm little house is located there, and sells you ice cream and homemade apricot juice, with the viewpoint: Mont Ventoux on the terrace. It's very nice !

View of Mont Ventoux

Highlight • Summit

From the Col de Fontaube we descend steeply into the Toulourenc valley, past the romantic mountain village of Brantes, with Mont Ventoux always majestic but bald in front of us

Brantes

Highlight • Settlement

Brantes is a small village on the mountainside, dominated by the Ventoux. Its name comes from the stack of unstable limestone layers of the mountain against which it is located, Brantulas which means “The rickety one”. Around the 12th and 13th century, Brantes was a crossing point between Mollans and Montbrun, passing from the Ouvèze valley to that of Toulourenc. The village's economy is essentially based on crafts, goat breeding and cheese making. Strolling through the alleys and arched passages is very pleasant.

Brantes Village

Highlight • Settlement

Brantes is located on the northern slope of Mont-Ventoux and overlooks the wild Toulourenc valley. It is one of the most beautiful Provencal villages that one can visit. It must be said that the view is splendid. The village is walked through and is very steep. You will find a cool water fountain a little further down the main road.
