In the interwar period and during the occupation, the right (Chełmno) and left banks of the Vistula were connected by a ferry. At the end of World War II, the construction of a wooden bridge began, which was completed in 1945. However, its construction turned out to be too primitive, so a modern bridge was built, which was put into use in 1963.
