Andeer Village Center

Highlight • Settlement

Beautiful, small town in the Schams Valley. A restaurant, a bakery, a butcher's shop and a small supermarket invite you to linger and get some refreshment. There are also fountains for filling up with water. If you like, you can also relax in the Andeer mineral baths.

Roffla Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

The Roffla Gorge winds daringly along the A13 national highway between the towns of Andeer and Splügen. It's hard to imagine that it had to be painstakingly rebuilt by hand by Christian Melchior Pitschen at the beginning of the 20th century to be accessible to tourists. At the foot of the Roffla Gorge, the inn of the same name invites you to linger and experience history in the museum.

From the house, the rock gallery leads into the Rofflaschlucht gorge and, at the very back, even behind the waterfall, thus under the Rhine. The path leads through the restaurant – where the entrance is located – into the museum and further into the gorge.

This rock gallery was built in the winters of 1907-14 by the then landlord and owner Christian Pitschen-Melchior. The history of this life's work, why and how it came about, can be viewed in the house museum.

The hike into the gorge and back takes about half an hour, including the museum, although you can of course also linger and enjoy for over an hour.

Evangelical Reformed Church, Innerferrera

Highlight • Religious Site

Evangelical Reformed Church, Innerferrera
The evangelical reformed church in Innerferrera was built around 1834 in its present form and is the only church in the valley that stands in the middle of the village. This new building was made possible thanks to a generous donation from the legacy of the Ausserferrerer citizen Peter Lamalta, who died in Chur in 1825. The result is a rectangular hall church, which is divided into a choir and a nave. During excavations in 1939, the foundations of a narrower and shorter predecessor church were discovered. Since the renovation in 1939/40, the church tower has had a dial, for which the bell windows were provided with wooden blinds.
In the choir there is a baptismal font and organ and an artfully constructed pulpit. On the back of the choir wall, under the lunette window, a Bible verse in Romansh is attached in an arched arrangement: “CUN FIDANZA LAINSA NUS VURDAR SIN JESUS, L’ANTSCHEATTA A LA FEGN DALLA CARDIENTSCHA. HEBR. 12.2. "The German translation of this verse from the Letter to the Hebrews reads:" We want to look to Jesus with trust, the beginner and finisher of faith. "

Juf "Europe's highest year-round inhabited village"
Juf is located in a barren mountain world at the foot of the Septimer Pass at 2,126 m above sea level - and is considered Europe's highest year-round inhabited settlement.
Juf is part of the municipality of Avers and is located in the high valley of the same name at a record-breaking altitude of 2,126 m above sea level. Around 22 people brave the frosty temperatures of the long winter up here, most of them as mountain farmers.
Cowbells ringing and marmot whistles welcome visitors. A cozy guest house accommodates anyone who wants to enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere in the quiet mountain village at the end of the highway for a little longer. Juf is ideal for long mountain hikes, but also for quiet days away from the hustle and bustle. The best way to discover the marmots is on the world's only signposted nature trail. Chamois and ibexes also live in the rocks above the settlement, and if you're lucky you might even spot eagles. In winter, Juf is a starting point for a variety of ski tours.
