Méthamis

Highlight • Settlement

Méthamis is one of those villages that are well hidden because they are far from very busy places.

The pass of the line, for example, which is close to the village, is little known and therefore little used.

Slowly but surely it's getting really warm here in Provence🤟

The tour around the Gorges de la Nesque is the absolute crowning glory in this direction: beautiful climb with moderate gradient percentages from Methamis, the descent down to Monieux, the short climb back to the viewpoint and then the fabulous descent down to Villes-sur- Auzon over smooth tarmac and great views. But beware of the boulders on the road (rock …

Next dream tour in Provence: With Matthias and Kirsten (at the beginning) to the Gorges de la Nesque, a gorge up to 400 m deep. Meanwhile also with very good asphalt. Omnipresent, of course, the Mont Ventoux.

After a cold and a few days on the rocks, we went on the tour around the Gorges de la Nesque. After the Verdon Gorge, it is an absolute scenic highlight in Provence.

Great day out on the bikes, climbed the Gorges de la Nesque to the village of Monieux. Then turned right continuing to climb until Belvedere de Saint Hubert, before a long discent to the medieval village of Methamis.

Lunch was a picnic near Monieux and the reward for completing the ride was icecream at Lou Glacie de Vielo.
The scenery is amazing. This 400-meter-deep gorge is very impressive. There are always great rock formations and a view of Mont Ventoux.

Anyone in the region MUST drive this gorge. Even to Sault. Just always beautiful.
