Seenbachtal Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A beautiful valley. Unfortunately, the quality of the road surface ranges from good to bad. A suspension bike is recommended and should be driven slowly. 😉

Beautiful views of the idyllic Seenbachtal! Why the wide, gravel path is shown as S1 on the Komoot MTB map is completely incomprehensible to me 🤔

Petershainer Hof

Highlight • Historical Site

The Petershainer Hof is located in the district of Kölzenhain, a district of Ulrichstein in the Vogelsberg district, approximately two kilometers west-southwest of the village on the left bank of the Seenbach.
The Petershainer Hof has gone through various forms of settlement in its history. There was originally a castle there. A farm was later built there. In 1365 and 1367 the place was described as desolate.
Remains of the former castle are no longer visible today
After the place had been a desert for over 100 years, the Petershainer Hof was built in 1493 on the site of the castle.
Of the six former farms, two still exist at the Petershainer Hof; the others were abandoned in the middle of the 19th century. In 1854 the district area was 531 acres, of which 177 acres were fields, 185 acres were forests and 135 acres were meadows.

The Petershainer Hof 2 complex, built in 1818 and used as a Hessian forester's lodge from 1853, is now a listed building. The ensemble consists of a classicist half-timbered house as the main building, a barn and a bakery located off the Seenbach. The former stable on the farm was replaced by a solid building.
Today, a youth forest home is operated in Petershainer Hof 2 by the Hesse regional association of the German Forest Protection Association in collaboration with Hessen-Forst.

Evangelical Church of Kölzenhain

Highlight • Religious Site

The Kölzenhain Protestant Church is a listed church building located in Kölzenhain, a district of the town of Ulrichstein in the Vogelsberg district (Hesse).
The rectangular half-timbered church, clad in shingles and on a base made of field stones, was expanded for the first time in 1592 and for the second time in 1858. A square, slate-covered cantilevered roof turret rises from the gable roof of the nave above the gable in the southeast, in which a small church bell hangs. It is covered with a pyramid roof.

The flat ceiling of the interior, which has three-sided galleries, is supported lengthwise by a beam that rests on a support in the middle. The organ with four registers and a manual was built in 1970 by Gerald Woehl.

Sellnrod Half-Timbered Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The small half-timbered church in Sellnrod is completely shingled. The richly decorated portal, which is marked with the year 1698, is remarkable. In the triangular gable is the coat of arms of the Landgraves of Hessen-Darmstadt, held by two lions.
