Located on the corner with Zondereigen Gel. In 1464 Zondereigen received a chapel, dependent on the St. Remigius parish in Baarle-Hertog; independent parish since 1842. Detached neo-Gothic church designed by J. Van Gastel, founded in 1859-1860 on the site of the former chapel; partly destroyed on 2/10/1944, rebuilt and enlarged in 1949 according to a design by R. Van Steenbergen senior. Oriented pseudo-cross basilica with three-aisled nave of four bays, built-in west tower and built-in flat closed transept; enlarged in 1949 with a partly lower choir of two bays with adjoining sacristy and storage room and semi-circular apse. Brick construction with slate roof; a large continuous gable roof covers the nave and the first choir bay, a slightly bent gable roof the second choir bay and the annexes, a domed roof the apse.

Signalman's house Bels Lijntje

Highlight • Monument

In addition to stations, guardhouses and signal houses were also built along the Bels Lijntje. The guardhouses or "route houses" were popularly called "roethuisjes".
At each level crossing, a railway guard lived who, sometimes with a chain across the road, had to stop road traffic. A number of these original guardhouses can still be admired along the cycle path from Tilburg to Turnhout.
At this location you are standing at a signal house.

Het Pannenhuis - Merksplas

Highlight • Historical Site

The Pannenhuis is a farm on the Hoekeinde in Merksplas. It is a former inn and brewery ('De Zwaan'), built in 1654 on one of the old connecting roads between Antwerp and Cologne, near a mudflat in the Mark. In the southern facade are the annual figures '1654' and a gable sign with a cross of sintered brick, as a symbol that itinerant judges held court here.
