Pian dell'Alpe

Highlight • Natural Monument

I arrived at Colle del Finestre around 7pm and was in a wonderful mood as the sun broke through the clouds. Had something to eat at the Rifugio on the Pian dell'Alpe and then stayed at the small campsite.

Fort of Fenestrelle

Highlight • Historical Site

An archaeological site of great importance for local history. Even just a look from the outside is worth it, an imposing and fascinating place!
It is managed almost exclusively by volunteers and it can be visited internally only with a guide, choosing between an all-day visit, a three-hour visit and an hour-long visit. I recommend the last option, to then still have the strength to pedal!
It is mandatory to book by calling the Associazione Progetto San Carlo ONLUS Forte di Fenestrelle.

The ride in mtb or on foot around the small and beautiful lake is fun and you see nature as it is, that is, where a branch falls, a tree is left natural as nature decides

Lago Grande di Avigliana

Highlight • Lake

Of morainic origin like the nearby Lago Piccolo di Avigliana, the Lago Grande is a typical tourist destination for many people who want to take a trip out of town from Turin. Of particular interest on the shores of Lago Grande is the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Laghi.

Comments

July 26, 2025,Da Bussoleno a Colle delle Finestre
The 8 km dirt road is also doable with a road bike. The descent is not recommended. It rained the night before, so the terrain was nice and compact.
The descent to Pinerolo is very beautiful.
It's best to take secondary roads because the main road is very busy.
The lakes of Avigliana are lovely. There's a super delicious ice …

The goal of minimizing the number of state roads has been a resounding success. The new bike paths in the two valleys, built with generously sized tires, are truly a great resource!
