Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort

Highlight • Natural Monument

Chalk Creek runs through Mount Princeton Hot Springs and Resort, and is one of several places where you can enjoy the water at this famous resort. Although the entry fee is a little steep ($45 on weekends, $40 on weekdays), you can enjoy access to the Historic Bath House, Creekside Hot Springs, Upper Pools & Infinity Pool. The Creekside Hot Springs are the highlight; they are the natural springs along Chalk Creek and are a unique experience in a beautiful setting.

Agnes Vaille Falls Trailhead

Highlight • Trail

Agnes Vaille Falls Trailhead has enough parking for about a dozen cars and can be a popular dry season hike. There are signs and a kiosk at the trailhead.

Be aware that the trail is short, but it gets rougher the further out you hike.

St. Elmo Ghost Town

Highlight • Historical Site

Saint Elmo is a fascinating, quirky, historic gold and silver mining town. It is touted as a ghost town, but it still has a small number of residents that actually live and run businesses there, namely the general store and a guest house. It does, however, have 43 historic buildings from the mining era, including a saloon, courthouse, jail, mercantile and private homes, and even an outhouse. St. Elmo is accessible all year-round, so it is a great place to visit. The road to it is a driveable dirt trail, so a good touring bike or gravel bike will handle the journey comfortably.

Chalk Lake and Cliffs

Highlight • Lake

Chalk Lake is a small lake near the Chalk Lake Campground. Although the lake is nice enough, the real star of the area are the white "Chalk Cliffs" that tower above the road and Chalk Creek. This is a great place to pause, sip some water, and admire the striking white bands of rock above you.
