Wolfsschlucht Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

Wonderfully rustic gorge in which you have to find your way. A real insider tip and very different in character than the much better known Monbachtal, which is nearby.

Ruins of the Hirsau Hunting Lodge

Highlight • Historical Site

From 1586 to 1592, the Dukes of Württemberg had a three-winged Renaissance-style castle built in place of the abbot's house to the south of the cloister.
During a siege by French troops under General Mélac in the War of the Palatinate Succession, the castle and monastery went up in flames on September 19th/29th 1692. At first, only the roofs were missing, but by 1808 the complex had increasingly lost masonry, which was used for the reconstruction of Calw, among other things.
