Michalská brána / Michaelertor, Bratislava / Pressburg
The elegant onion tower roof of Michaelertor is one of the landmarks of the city of Bratislava.
Of the originally four entrance gates of the city fortifications, only the northern Michalská Gate has been preserved. It was completed in the 14th century. It was named after the Gothic Church of St. Michael, which was located in front of the fortress and was demolished in the 16th century due to the incursions of Turkish troops. Since its creation, it has been expanded several times until it received its final appearance in the 18th century, shortly before almost the entire city fortification was demolished.
Due to its high onion-shaped roof, the gate tower is one of the landmarks of the Old Town. The balcony offers a panoramic view of the castle hill, the roofs and towers of the city, as well as the villa district in the hills.

The Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising (Slovak officially Most SNP, short for Most Slovenského národného povstania, from 1993 to August 29, 2012 officially Nový most - New Bridge) in Bratislava is one between 1967 and 1972 according to a design by Arpád Tesár (civil engineer), Jan Lacko (architect) and Ivan Slameň (architect) built the road bridge over the Danube, which bears the name after the 1944 Slovak National Uprising. It is the best known of the five Danube bridges in the city.

A special attraction is the tower restaurant in UFO or ship form located at 80 meters height on the 84.6 meter high pylon of the bridge. The restaurant, opened in 1974, was formerly called Bystrica, but was closed in 2003 and reopened on 15 June 2005 under the name Ufo. An elevator in the left pillar (seen from the north) leads to the restaurant, which offers a good view of the city. Above the restaurant there is another vantage point 95 meters high. The right pillar has an emergency staircase with 430 steps. On June 16, 2013, the Ufo Vertical Sprint held its first flight of stairs, one of the Masters races in the Treppenlauf World Cup.

April 6, 2024,Bratislava 10 km Lauf
Instead of the half marathon, I only ran the 10 km hobby run. In the heat, that was enough. I had never been so slow before, I was happy to reach the finish line. There were rows of runners walking.

In keeping with Women's Day, the unpleasant aspects of "being a woman" accompanied me today. Fortunately, the sun and heat were not so much of a problem. The fun factor was rather moderate, but I fought well. 💪🏻 😏
Only 4th place in today's race, but won the winter running series in the W40 age group. 🥳

Run 1 of the four-part winter running series of the Bratislava Marathon. Each of the four runs has its own motto and a different running route. The first run had a Santa Claus theme and goodies were raffled off afterwards among the runners with the appropriate accessories. The runs here in Bratislava are always very well organized and worth a …
