There used to be a trade route here between the Hohenberg and the Förlenberg, because there was a customs station here around 1786. This is where the dominions of the Electoral Palatinate, the Bishopric of Speyer and the Duchy of Zweibrücken met. With the dissolution of the dominions, the customs station was also dissolved after only three years by the French Revolution. A memorial stone from 1986 still bears witness to the customs station.
