The "Blue House", the former Jewish community center, on Rheintorstrasse (formerly Judengasse), as a small museum and meeting and event space, preserves the memory of the former Jewish community.

In the districts, the respective, partially a history of churches dating back to the Romanesque. In Grezhausen, next to the St. Bernard chapel, the baroque pigeon tower of the Günterstal monastery is worth seeing. Even a castle awaits visitors to Breisach. In the district of Oberrimsingen, the castle of the former local lords, the barons von Falkenstein, has been preserved, which today houses a well-known cabaret.

Old Town of Breisach am Rhein

Highlight • Historical Site

The hill on which Breisach is situated—the Münsterberg—was located in the Rhine until Johann Gottfried Tulla's correction of the Rhine during floods. In ancient times, it was the seat of a Celtic prince. Later, the Romans built a fortress here, and the Hohenstaufen dynasty founded Breisach in its present form in 1158.

This tower formerly served as a prison. The tower was named after the Burgundian governor Hagenbach, who was imprisoned there in 1474.
