Lippingau River Mouth

Highlight • River

The Lippingau is a small, quiet river. It flows between Wasserballig and Steinberghaff on a beautiful stretch of beach in the Baltic Sea.

The environment is largely natural and the Lippingau was renatured, so you can observe animals and nature here. Thanks to the renaturation sea trout come here again for spawning.

Lippingau Riverside Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The Lippingau (also: Lippinger Auwe, Lipping Auw, Swensbeck, Oestergaarder Au, Danish: Lipping Å, Svensbæk)[1] is a river in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in the Angeln region of Schleswig-Holstein. According to the Official Water Management Register (AGV), it begins as a pipe system with an inner diameter of 20 centimeters immediately east of the Möllmarker Schweiz road on the Möllmarker Schweiz No. 5 property in the municipality of Sörup.[2] It flows northeast through forest and grassland areas and emerges after 1186 meters at the Möllmarker Schweiz No. 6 property. It flows northeast as a canal-like river, and after crossing under the Rackebüll road it continues to flow in a pipe. After crossing under the Birristoft road it comes to the surface again in a field. It skirts the eastern edge of the settlement of Sterup and then turns east. In Kallewatt, the Bordeskuhler Au flows into the Lippingau on the left bank, then the Esguser Mühlenstrom flows into the Lippingau on the right bank. At Gut Oestergaard, the Lippingau passes under the B 199 federal highway and flows north of the Ohrfeldhaff road into the Geltinger Bucht and thus into the Baltic Sea[3], see also map 1. The Lippingau is 14 kilometers long, of which 2.3 kilometers are piped.

In the nineteenth century, the Lippingau was dammed as a mill pond at Gut Oestergaard. The estate buildings were on an island in the middle and could only be reached via a bridge. The estate operated a water mill there, see image 1. The Lippingau now flows past the mill pond in a newly created canal-like stream bed 140 meters south of the mill pond. The Lippingau river dam was built on the northern left bank of the Lippingau and extends to the mouth. It prevents the surface water from the higher areas south of the Lippingau from reaching the old floodplain valley of the Lippingau, which is at sea level. In order for this to be used for agricultural purposes, the old floodplain valley is drained into the new Lippingau via a permanent pumping station with two feed pumps with a flow rate of 170 and 100 liters per second.[4]

Markets and music events take place at Gut Oestergaard throughout the year. Vacation homes and apartments are rented and the culture barn can be rented for private parties and company parties.

From the middle of July each year, the corn labyrinth with its around three kilometers of enticing paths lures. If that's not enough, take part in one of the ghost nights, which are offered from time to time. More information on all events: gut-oestergaard.de

Ohrfeldhaff Beach

Highlight • Beach

Ohrfeldhaff is not so crowded even in summer, because the beach is quite small and you have to bring food. You can run a beautiful hiking trail to Steinberghaff.

The reports of all the 🌊🌬 damage in the last 24 hours bring tears to my eyes at home. And the audacity of a number of people to put themselves in additional danger for 📷🏄‍♂️🚣‍♂️ and of course to hinder 🚒 😡. Still, I have to go for a walk today, where? 🌳🌳🌳 is of course taboo.
So after your …

My (🚶‍♀️) komoot statistics say I hiked 4045 km. If I measure this as the crow flies south, I reached the Borkou region in Chad today 🤗. In the middle of the Sahara desert 🏜. I've never been there before 😇.

Sir Ludwig 🐕 reports: "that's enough now! I've hardly seen my mistress for 2.5 days 😬. She's banished to the first floor, sleeps there forever and makes such strange noises 😧.
